Madame Butterfly

When: Sat., April 17, 7:30 p.m. and Tue., April 20, 7:30 p.m. 2010

This production of the Puccini work about the bond between a Japanese beauty and an American naval officer features costumes and scenic design by ceramics artist Jun Kaneko. It also will be the last production under Michael Ching as artistic director of Opera Memphis.

In a relationship as interesting as the one between Cio-Cio San and Lieutenant Pinkerton, Opera Memphis also joins up with the Southern Hot Wings Festival, which is being held Saturday, April 17th, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., on South Main Street. The “Wings of Fire” package, for $235, gets you two maestro-level tickets to Madame Butterfly, two VIP festival tickets that include free food and beer and backstage access (where you’ll have the opportunity to share wet-naps with the members of Black Oak Arkansas), and a 30 percent discount for a room at the Peabody that evening.

The $185 “Smokin’ Hot Wings” deal includes two opera tickets, two tickets to the festival, access to the hospitality tent, and the Peabody discount.

Price: $12-$17
