Okay, I admit it. It's been a long time since college, I never made the best grades in Spanish, and babelfish.com has probably turned the above quote from Eve Ensler's play into complete nonsense. But if you've always wanted to feel empowered or entertained (or both) by frank discussions of la panocha, (or la cueva, or la cosita or los papayas) then tonight's your lucky night.
The Evergreen Theatre, Midtown's newest playhouse for independendent companies, opens to the public this weekend with a production of The Vagina Monologues and tonight the entire show will be performed in Spanish. Muy bueno, si? Si.
And as always, it's for a good cause. VDay Memphis is a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness to help victims of domestic violence. This year's proceeds benefit the Exchange Club Family Center and the YWCA of Memphis.
The Vagina Monologues: February 26- 27 at the Evergreen Theater (formerly Circuit Playhouse). Tickets $20. Doors open 7pm both nights. Shows start 8pm
