Elvis Presley Day Ceremony

When: Sat., Jan. 8, 9:30 a.m. 2011

Elvis Birthday Celebration kicks off today with a meet-up for fans at Marlowe’s at noon and a Graceland Trivia Tour, starting at the mansion’s ticket office at 4:30 p.m. ($15-$31). Later, it’s Club Elvis with music and a cash bar for fans in the car museum at 8 p.m. ($25) and the Midnight Southern Breakfast at the Chrome Grille Restaurant, starting at midnight ($12).

On Friday, the Fan Club Presidents’ Event is from 10 a.m. to noon at the Memphis Marriott East. Scheduled to attend this event honoring Elvis fan clubs are Gordon Stoker of the Jordanaires and Jim Murray, who performed with the Stamps Trio, Inspirationals, and the Orell Quartet ($12).

For Saturday, it’s got to be the Elvis Day Ceremony, 9:30 a.m. on the lawn of Graceland, which will feature Edison Pena, the rescued Chilean miner and Elvis fan, who will cut the birthday cake.
