Finally, a meeting of fur and glamour that doesn't ignite animal-rights protests. On Thursday, July 20th, the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County will host "Cocktails and Hardhats," an opportunity for potential and committed donors to view the progress of the organization's future site at Shelby Farms.
The new building will be 23,000 square feet and will hold about 50 percent more dogs and cats than the current 2,500-square-foot site in Midtown. Now halfway completed, the facility will include a first-rate veterinary clinic, an education center, and rooms where potential adopters can get to know their new furry friends.
Attendees on Thursday can see the facility firsthand while drinking their "mutt-tinis." It's also a chance to learn about the naming opportunities that are still available for the$5.5 million site. Attire is casual.
"Cocktails and Hardhats," Thursday, July 20th, 6-8 p.m.,
935 Farm Road at Mullins Station. For more information, go to www.memphishumane.org or call 276-7770.
