Hip-hop producer 9th Wonder gets around. The North Carolina-based producer, known for his soul-oriented sound, got his start as the musical mastermind behind the Carolina group Little Brother, but he’s since gone on to produce tracks for some of the biggest and best stars in hip-hop and R&B, including Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Mary J. Blige, and Erykah Badu. 9th Wonder also frequently works with less celebrated artists, doing fruitful album-long collaborations with more underground stalwarts such as David Banner, Jean Grae, and Murs. This week, Wonder returns to Memphis alongside hard-edged Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs (pictured), a recent indie breakout artist who signed to a label founded by Atlanta rap star Young Jeezy. Gibbs is featured on Jeezy’s recent single “Do It For You.” 9th Wonder and Gibbs will headline a big hip-hop show at Minglewood Hall on Monday, October 10th. Among the multiple openers is Memphis rapper Skewby. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.
