Now that summer is is finally here, people are desperate to keep their perfect summer bodies in shape, and with the help of Shelby Farms this has never been easier. Mayor Mark H. Luttrel is hosting the first annual “Healthy Shelby” 5K & Festival to be held in Shelby Farms. All proceeds will benefit Healthy Shelby and the fight to reduce the infant mortality rate. They are partnering with health vendors including Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, Fleet Feet, Smoothie King, Methodist Hospital, and more. The festival will host events including a free catered breakfast, a Zumba class, raffles, free merchandise from the sponsors and will have activities for children including inflatable water slides, face painting, free frozen yogurt, and spin art. Following the race and festival will be an awards ceremony where the top racers in each age group will be presented with awards. Pre registration ends on June 20th and is $20. Registration the day of the race begins at 6:30am for $25. The race will be held on June 22nd at 8am. For more information, visit their website with full event schedule and list of sponsors.
