Stan Franklin, a U of M professor and author of the book Artificial Minds, is skeptical about recent research showing that a group of computers created their own language and learned to hunt [computerized prey] in packs. Franklin was quoted as saying, This kind of work was done in the lab, in a controlled environment. He did not point out that films like Blade Runner, Terminator, and Terminator II have taught us not to teach computers to hunt in packs.
