Left-handed blues guitarist Little Jimmy King was born in Memphis in 1968 as Manuel Gales. He changed his name to honor his guitar heroes, Jimi Hendrix and Albert King. Though he grew up playing guitar, his heyday wasn't until the '90s after touring with Albert King, who came to call Little Jimmy his grandson. King produced three studio albums and recorded with other blues artists, including his brothers Eric and Eugene Gales, who still occasionally perform on Beale. Little Jimmy King passed away at the age of 34, but his memory lives on with an honorary brass note on Beale.
