Lucero at Minglewood Hall

Memphis' Lucero is gearing up for a big start to 2012. The band, which has been one of the city's best, most popular, and hardest-working acts for more than a decade now, recently recorded a new album for indie ATO — whose roster also includes such like-minded bands as the Drive-By Truckers, My Morning Jacket, and the Whigs. The record is due out in March, and the band is building a two-month, coast-to-coast tour — dubbed the "Women & Work Tour" — around the release, including a three-day stretch of gigs in Alaska and a co-headlining show with indie-rock legends Built to Spill in Houston. But before all that, the band will celebrate at home with their second annual holiday show at Minglewood Hall, which will also feature sometime tourmate Amy LaVere, whose recent third album, Stranger Me, was one of the year's very best local albums. Lucero and LaVere play Minglewood Hall Thursday, December 22nd. Showtime is 8 p.m. Admission is $21. A portion of proceeds goes to MusiCares, a Grammy-sponsored health-care program for musicians.
