Chuck + George at Southfork

The "Tablescrappin’" prints, a serial collection, feature two sallow-faced, unhealthy looking characters who sit at depraved dining tables in the company of political, religious, and pop figures, all grotesqueries. The prints are well-executed and less apocalyptic than they are evocative of a fun societal underbelly.

A friendly, graphical note runs throughout the exhibition. Paulus' paintings— each of which feature a line of colorful race flags at the top— constitute about half of the featured work.

In one corner, the computer-cut moulds that originally marked the plastic sheets are repurposed into a hanging sculpture. Their yellow, semi-translucent rubberiness feels dirty next to the white floor and other works.

Chris Miner's "The Gospel According to a Young American"

In The Best Decision Ever Made, Miner speaks over progressive shots of his late grandmother's Mississippi home. It is a small, pre-war white house, the sort that still has a root cellar and outdoor laundry line.

Each year students from Memphis College of Art take a trip to Horn Island off the Gulf Coast, following in the personal tradition of Walter Anderson. There they isolate themselves, become immersed in the island life, and, ideally, produce work to bring back and put on display.

Now on display at Askew Nixon Ferguson is New Work by Ann Fitzgerald Bailey and Kathy Williams. Combining Fitzgerald's watercolors and mixed media and Williams' acrylic dyes on silk and bamboo, the exhibition makes an elegant addition to the gallery.
