Electric Fourth

f5de/1246562713-georgeforeman.jpgSome years, back I was at a holiday cookout, when the host wheeled out an electric outdoor/indoor George Foreman Grill. I almost lost my g-d mind!

Isn't the point of outdoor grilling getting that great smoky taste while keeping the dangerous fire outdoors?

Anyway... there are a few Fourth of July sales, and one of them involves an electric grill.

William-Sonoma has its all-clad electric grill, usually $400, on sale for $299.95. Plus, with purchase, you'll get an all-clad cast aluminum au gratin pan for free. (Available online and at the Saddlecreek store, 737-9990.)

The William-Sonoma Outlet (4718 Spottswood, 763-1500) is having a holiday sidewalk sale, starting today and running through Sunday. Clearance items are up to 75% off and much of the barbecue cookware is going for 40% off.

And at Viking (1215 Ridgeway, 763-3747), it's yet another 4th of July sale, from Saturday until Monday. All items in the store are 25% off. One cool gizmo is the insta-marinader by Vacuvin. It uses vacuum technology to marinade meat, which would normally take up to eight hours, in 30 minutes.
