When Matt Wilson opened Swanky’s Taco Shop four years ago in Germantown, Mexican food got a little bit classier.
“People have come to like Swanky’s because of the fresh Tex-Mex food and the slightly upscale atmosphere,” Wilson said. (The tasty margaritas and more than 60 types of tequila available help, too.)
Because of the success of the Germantown location, Wilson is opening a second restaurant.
“We are renovating the new location, which used to be the Atlanta Bread Company near Poplar and Colonial,” Wilson said.
The new Swanky’s, set to open in early October, will have a similar menu and atmosphere that patrons of the Germantown location have come to expect, with a few twists.
The new location will have a bigger bar area, so patrons will have plenty of room for a tequila tasting or to try a flight of tequila. Also, during dinnertime, patrons can forgo the line service and have a sit-down dining experience.
“We won’t be changing the menu prices from lunch to dinner, but now, customers can come in, still get the great food they are used to, and get service on top of that,” Wilson said.
Wilson plans to feature local bands and entertainment and dropped a hint about a large, enclosed patio.
Meanwhile, customers can get their “Swank” fix by showing up for the special 4th anniversary party at the original Swanky’s on July 10th . From 6-12 p.m. There will be live music, $4 margaritas, and a Cabo Wabo Guitar giveaway.
