Chocolate & Tequila

So, I mentioned in a previous post about the Flyer's 901 Tequila Cocktail Contest(!) that I was thinking of mixing a chocolate liquor with tequila for the Mud Island Iced Tea. My thinking was the chocolate would play off the word "mud."

I abandoned that idea when it was scoffed at, but appears I may not have been too far off the mark.

Check out Benito's Original Tetzilacatl Cocktail, a gorgeous drink using new-to-the-market chocolate bitters.

And, now, here's another recipe from 901:

901 and Nectar
1 1⁄2 oz 901 Silver Tequila
1 oz Honey Blossom Syrup
1⁄2 oz fresh orange juice
3⁄4 oz fresh lime juice
1⁄2 oz Combier (Cointreau)
Dip the rim in honey and then in salt
Pour all the ingredients in shaker, add ice, shake and pour into margarita glass. Garnish with a twist
of orange.
Honey Syrup Process:
6 oz of Honey Blossom
2 oz of hot water
Stir and make sure that the cocktail is well integrated and then let it cool and use.
