Yesterday I stopped by the Pink Palace Crafts Fair first-thing. There was already a line of cars waiting to turn into the park.
Ace Martin and Lois Stocker were making biscuits that would be baked in an on-site wood-burning stove.
I was passing by two police officers working the event when I overheard Officer 1 chide Officer 2 for eating chicken on a stick so early in the morning (it was 10 a.m.). Officer 2 protested, saying "It's better than sex!" To which Officer 1 replied, "That's because you don't have sex." So, I stopped and told them I heard the whole exchange. Officer 2 said, "It's better than sex. Did you write that down?" and Officer 1 said, "I told him that's because he doesn't have sex. Did you write that down?"
Officers 1 and 2 requested that I not include their names or pictures, so here's the picture of the chicken on a stick. I forgot to write down where it's from.
When I asked Jerry Wenzel of Roadkill Grill what's on the menu, he said, "We've got possum and skunk." Actually, Roadkill serves a number of wraps, including the Delta Cheesesteak, and tamales that Wenzel said are "to die for."
You cannot go to the crafts fair without having a Friends of Pink Palace donut. I had a cinnamon-and-sugar donut. Excellent.
Oh, yeah. There were crafts there too, like this cute wooden elephant rocker.
