Coffee at Waffle House

I hate to admit this, but here goes: On a recent trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama, my first meal of the morning was at Waffle House.

It was early, I’m a coffee junkie, and the restaurant was right behind the condo, so in I went. But guess what?

The coffee was excellent.

Apparently, Waffle House has been serving its classic blend of “high-grade Arabica beans” since the restaurant started in 1972. At $1.35, the bottomless cup of java got me wondering about other chain restaurants and the coffee they serve. So what else should I try when I’m too broke to spend four dollars on a latte (which is most days)? Ihop? Huddle House? White Castle?
