Memphis Beat's Eats, Episode 3

Monsieur Tofu is tired of being maligned by Memphis Beat.

During last night's episode of Memphis Beat, more biscuits from the Arcade, more tofu-bashing, and a food-related plot twist.

Interesting that the pageant girl chided the cops for a "lack of imagination." One could level the same charge at the writers of this show.

First, the obvious, which is using Elvis as a hook. Though the show acquits itself nicely in this aspect, it is a rather trite novelty and it sets the bar low ... and, thus, the dumb swipes at tofu.

Also, enough with the Arcade biscuits, these policemen need some Gibson's donuts.

Another point of interest was the food-related "lightbulb" moment for Dwight, which led him to solve the crime. It involves a chili cheeseburger — not very Memphis-y.

And despite all this, I'm very much looking forward to next week's episode, which features a crime revolving around a beloved barbecue pit master.
