Earlier in the week, a friend mentioned that Forty Carrots, the East Memphis kitchenwares store, had closed.
I stopped by the store, and, sure enough, it was empty.
What a shame. Forty Carrots not only had just about every tool you could ever need for cooking, owners Phyllis and Chuck Cline were generous in providing advice and answering questions.
While I was outside the store, a passerby stopped and said that it had closed about six weeks ago and that Phyllis had secured a booth at a "whole food" market to sell Forty Carrots coffee and prepared foods.
My attempts to reach Phyllis have been unsuccessful, but if I hear back, I'll post an update.
