There are a couple of contests of local interest. One to vote in and one to participate in.

Vote for Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman (pictured above) of Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen, who've made the top 20 in an instructional video contest for Protein University.

And, Muddy's Bake Shop is holding a T-shirt design contest. The prizes are sweet.

Protein University is described as "the only exclusive sustainable butchery retreat in the United States. Our mission is to create an online resource populated with a family tree of whole animal breakdown techniques from across the globe."

In Ticer and Hudman's video, they butcher a large pig from Newman Farms. It involves classical music and a saw and would definitely be included in my imaginary blog,

Go here to watch the video and to start the voting process. Voting ends Saturday, August 21st.

Following the success of a bumper-sticker design contest, Muddy's is now holding one for T-shirts.

The prize is "3 tees, 2 dozen cupcakes, 1 pie, and mad bragging rights."

Rules and details of the contest, which ends September 30th, are spelled out here.

Seen above is my prototype of a cupcake eating the M-shaped bridge, so sorry, folks, looks like I've got this one in the bag.
