In the Food News column in the Flyer hitting the stands on Wednesday, Hannah Sayle reports on Marley's, the Jamaican-themed restaurant which recently opened in the old Plush Club space on Beale.
Last week, Hannah and I went to check it out for lunch.
You can read about the improvements the owner has made to the space in Hannah's story. It's impressive, but I was most struck by the interesting menu ... oxtail stew, curried chicken, plaintains Foster.
The lighting is too dim for decent pictures, as mine were bad ...
and worse ...
At top is a plate pieced together by Hannah with sides of the day of rice and beans and fried yuca chips with a bowl of Ocho Rios Callaloo, a blend of spinach, coconut milk, okra, and seasonings ($4.95). Below is the Port Antonio Rasta Pasta ($10.95) with eggplant, broccoli, mushrooms, and peppers in a coconut cream sauce.
All of it was good, but the hearty Ocho Rios Callaloo stole the show.
