Last week, we went to Acre for lunch.
I'm not sure the restaurant could be any prettier. The decor, the gardens, the lighting ... everything was just-so.
Of course, this scrupulous attention to detail extends to the food.
The Peekytoe Crab Cake appetizer ($12) came with a salad of pickled carrots, daikon sprouts, shisso, and apple with a mustard vinaigrette.
The green salad ($8) was greens with roasted baby beets and goat cheese.
This pasta dish was Maitake mushroom agnolotti ($12) with pac choi, sage-garlic broth, and parmesan.
It's not a ton of food and not particularly showy, but I think that may be the point. Rather than cramming you full and overwhelming you, these tasteful dishes (at least these few that we tried) put emphasis on ingredients and preparation. Again, like the decor, it's just-so.
