My friend Simone is moving her family to Germany in July. As is the case with such massive endeavors, there have been wrinkles both large and small.
Over Sunday brunch at the Beauty Shop, she talked about one such challenge and how her father had advised her with a German saying: "First, we must get the cow off the ice."
It means carefully dealing with something of value that is in peril.
None of this has anything to do at all with the chilaquiles ($12) I ate.
This is eggs and tortilla chips topped with cheese and avocado. There was plenty to choose from on the menu. I had my eye on those lemon ricotta pancakes, but it was the avocado that sold me on this dish. The only thing I would add is a nice dose of salsa or hot sauce for a bit of zip. The serving was too generous to finish.
