I'm a sucker for hyperbole, packaging, and gimmicks, so of course I bought a box of Bart & Judy's The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies in the World!


I got these at Fresh Market. I thought the $5.99 was a tiny bit steep for a 4.5-oz box, though I guess that's a bargain compared to the limited edition Chocolate Noir cookies priced at $6,400.

Now about that packaging. There's a lot, a lot, going on ...

Is it the best chocolate chip cookie* in the world? As I had not had every chocolate chip cookie in the world, I feel unqualified to say. But these are very good, and from what I can tell, they are based on the original Famous Amos before the company was sold.

If the cookie aisle at Fresh Market is any indication, pricey, artisan cookies are the latest pricey, artisan foodstuff. Words shouts from the boxes, bliss, incredible, wow ...

And you have to admit, these Queen City elephant cookies ($5.99 for 6.5-oz bag) are adorable ...


These, by the way, are Sugary Blueberry Maple Pancake Cookie Delights. Resistance is futile.
