In which I tell you about events that you may be interested in. Like tonight. Tonight is Changing Direction, hosted by the Coalition for Livable Communities and Transportation for America.
The meeting, to be held at the Memphis Leadership Foundation building at 1548 Poplar, will discuss the future of America's transportation system and how you feel about local transportation issues.
"How we get from place to place has a large impact on each of us. Whether it's time lost sitting in traffic, smog in the air our children breath, or money lost in the gas tank, our transportation choices affect our daily lives and future opportunities. Help us map out a new future for America's transportation system, one that recognizes our need for safe, clean, and smart transportation options."

Then, Saturday, the Memphis City Schools is holding an auction of surplus items. The auction starts at 10 a.m. at MCS' warehouse at 1384A Farmville Rd.
The items will be on display tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the warehouse. They include cargo vans, buses and refrigerated trucks, cafeteria equipment, chairs, tables, office furniture, commercial mixers, ice machines, and food warmers.
All items are being sold "as is." The school district will only accept payments in the form of cash and cashier checks.
