Pee-wee Herman's Hollywood Comeback

Has it really been 20 years since Paul Reubens — busted in 1991 after allegedly showing his little pee-wee at a Sarasota, Florida, porno theater — hung up his grey Pee-wee Herman suit?

I was a huge fan back in the 1980s, from the time that Pee-wee appeared on HBO through the debut of his Saturday morning children's show on CBS. I still do the "Tequila" dance and joke about the basement in the Alamo.

Even so, I never thought that this day would come — when Reubens, now 56, would don that grey suit and red bow tie and get back in character and onstage, as he's planning to do at the Music Box in Los Angeles for 10 days, from November 19th to 29th.

From the Los Angeles Times: “I’ve put part of him away for a long time, but part of him has always been here with me,” the soft-spoken actor said from his home in L.A. “I think it will be like riding a bike — which is not a bad analogy for Pee-wee, by the way.”
