Doggie Bagged

Nothing lasts forever. Not even some names. Southland Racing Corporation (SRC) of West Memphis announces that as part of a big-bucks expansion, Southland Greyound Park is dropping the dog from its moniker; effective this month, it will simply be called Southland Park. Barry Baldwin, president of SRC, waxes eloquent about the reasons for the change: “The new name bridges the historical traditions and heritage of Southland Greyhound Park, a cornerstone of the West Memphis community for fifty years, with a new beginning.”

Besides its change in title, the park will add new amenities — a night club, sports bar with national sports events, live entertainment, and special events. The new and improved facility should open by the end of the year. For more go here.
