Peace & Justice Center Turns 25

The Mid-South Peace & Justice Center celebrated 25 years last night with a gala event at Bridges downtown.

Amy Goodman from Democracy Now!, an independent radio and TV news program, spoke about the importance of gathering one’s news from non-corporate sources. Goodman said she’s currently trying to make the Democracy Now! broadcast accessible in Memphis.

Rhodes religious studies professor Luther Ivory spoke about the importance of making time and space in one’s life for activism.

India Palace catered the event, and music was provided by folk singer Andy Cohen.
