Going Green: Tickets for WICKED go on sale today

Sure green donuts may be an idea that only Homer Simpson could love but it's the thought that counts, right? WICKED tickets go on sale this morning (4/17/09) and to celebrate The Orpheum is giving away emerald-colored sinkers and coffee until 10 a.m.

Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman's high-tech musical adaptation of Gregory Maguire's revisionist Wizard of Oz is an uneasy blend of ironic self-awareness, self-righteousness, and sincerity, but its inconsistencies haven't affected its box office. In fact, this Tony-nominated story of how Elphaba, a green-skinned beauty becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, has won the hearts and minds of 13-year-old girls (and quite a few other demographics) worldwide.

Tickets are exclusively available at the Orpheum Theatre Box Office at 203 S. Main and Davis-Kidd Booksellers at 387 Perkins Ext. Beginning at 10 a.m., any remaining tickets will be available for purchase online at Orpheum-memphis.com, by phone at (901) 525-3000, and all Ticketmaster locations. There is an 8-ticket limit per patron.
