Merce Cunningham's Last Dance

Merce Cunningham, among the most influential dancers and choreographers in the American avant-garde, died on Sunday, July 26, 2009. He was 90.

Cunningham worked with a diverse range of artists including composer John Cage, who was also his life partner for 50 years, as well as sculptor Robert Rauschenberg, and pop artist Andy Warhol. Cunningham's best known students include Paul Taylor, Lucinda Childs, and Trish Brown.
