Memphis Tigers vs. Arkansas State (7 pm, FEF)

• The Tigers’ series with Arkansas State dates back to the 1921-22 season (the second in the program’s history), with Memphis holding a slight 30-28 advantage. Having played twice each season for 35 years, the schools didn’t play between 1957 and 1979. Since the series resumed, the Tigers lead, 10-4. Memphis has won each of the last four meetings, all of them at FedExForum. Only four schools have played the Tigers more than the 58 games Arkansas State has: Louisville, Cincinnati, Southern Miss, and Murray State.

• The Red Wolves enter tonight’s game having lost their last two outings, to Indiana State and Ole Miss. They also lost to UTEP — by 26 points — on November 21st. ASU’s wins have come against MacMurray, Southeast Missouri State, and UT-Martin. Their top scorer is sophomore guard Daniel Bryant, with 15.0 ppg.

• Sophomore guard Elliot Williams is looking for his fifth consecutive 20-point game. The last Tiger to have such a streak was Sean Banks — with six straight — in 2004.

• The last time the Tigers played on December 5th was in 2000, when they lost in Knoxville to the sixth-ranked Tennessee Vols.

• Since the start of the 2005-06 season, Memphis has a record of 81-3 at FedExForum. This year’s seniors — Doneal Mack, Pierre Henderson-Niles, and Willie Kemp — are 62-2 at home. The only three losses over the last four-plus seasons: Texas, Tennessee, and Syracuse. (Maybe there’s something evil about orange, after all.)
