Jackson Baker is senior editor of The Memphis Flyer and a contributing editor of Memphis Magazine and the Tennessee Journal. His primary concerns are political coverage and general news; other duties include editorials, op-ed contributions, and the paper's online edition. He has worked as a reporter for the Arkansas Gazette, where he was twice jailed for refusing to reveal his sources to a Grand Jury, and as an aide in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C..He was an assistant professor of English at the University of Memphis (where he also taught a survey course in the history of rock and roll), and taught at several other universities. for many years he was a regular invitee to the annual Conference on Consciousness sponsored by the Menninger Foundation.
