Flies get into shit. They can't help it. Getting into shit is in their nature. And that, boys and girls, is pretty much everything you'll ever need to know about this blog.
Now, if you've read all of that, and you still want to know what typing this post feels like for the principal voice of a blog that has been unnaturally trapped inside a little gray strip of newsprint, and forced to pretend it was a column for 17-years, I'll tell you. It's a lot like that moment in the song "Think," when Aretha Franklin starts belting out the word, "FREEDOM" over and over again, combined with this...
So, that's really all I've got for now. It's not a very splashy start, I know. Just a simple hello from me and the Fly-Team (AKA The Wiseguys improv comedy troupe). You'll get to meet all of those guys individually, as they chime in. So now, for your delight, and in honor of the very first "Fly on the Wall" column ever, here's a crudely animated (and entirely shareable) GIF featuring the giant head of Memphis Flyer senior editor/master hoofer, Jackson Baker, superimposed over the body of a hot dancer from the original "Macarena" video.
Come on everybody, let's do the Jackarena again!
