Cohen Gets a Ford Endorsement…

It ain’t Junior, or not that Junior, a certain senatorial candidate whose many talents include an unmatched agility in straddling controversial issues. This endorsement comes from Joe Ford Jr., the relative newcomer to Memphis-area politics who proved engaging enough to voters to finish third in this month’s Democratic primary balloting for the 9th District congressional seat. “I support Steve Cohen. I’ve always said I’d endorse the winner of the Democratic primary. I respect the process,” says young Joe, an entertainment lawyer just now finishing up some business in California but determined, he said, to return to Memphis to forge his legal and political future.

Nothing against cousin Jake Ford, running as an independent for the 9th District seat. “I wish him well in everything he does. I just think Democrats have an obligation to support the party nominee.” What about cousin Harold Ford Jr.’s studied neutrality? “He’s got his own situation to think of. I respect that.”
