Like father, like son: In 2005 when veteran’60s honky-tonker Roy Head (left) did a gig in Memphis, the Flyer's Chris Davis caught his act quite by chance and was overwhelmed: “…incredible…revelatory….I mean this man left it all on stage in a way that, at times made heyday James Brown look like an also-ran….[He was] like the bastard child of Prince and Mick Jagger. But grittier than either.” A year later, Head’s son “Sundance” showed up for an American Idol audition and had he same effect on the program’s judges. An open-mouthed Simon Cowell immediately declared him a finalist. Check him out doing Stormy Monday..)
