Lots of art openings tonight. They are at: Painted Planet Artspace in Strings & Things Mall for work by Max Gerleve and Melanie Gerleve; DCI Gallery for paintings by Patrick Cunningham; Perry Nicole Fine Art for work by Bob Short and Don Morgan; Southside Gallery in Oxford for work by Michael Eble, Sheri Rieth, and Bert Sharpe; and at David Mah Studio for pop-art paintings by Leah West Jones. Also, tonight s Art on Tap at The Dixon Gallery and Gardens -- a fund-raiser for the Dixon s Young at Art program -- features beer tastings, food, and live music by the Catherine Stallins Band. On stage, Resident Alien opens tonight at Circuit Playhouse, a comedy about the meaning of family and intergalactic relationships; and at TheatreWorks, it s opening night of the Emerald Theatre Company s production of P.S. Your Cat Is Dead, about a down-and-out actor holding a burglar hostage. As part of this weekend s big Southern Heritage Classic, there s a Classic R&B Concert tonight at the Grand Casino with Stephanie Mills, The Manhattans, and comedian Jay Lamont. Eugene Gales is at B.B. King s to night. The Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge. And last but certainly not least, today kicks off this weekend s International Goat Days Family Festival at USA Stadium in Millington, with goat chariot-racing contests, milking, cooking, and heaven only knows what else. Why is this not on the Today show?
