Tonight s art openings are at: Grace Place for paintings by Aton Weiss; and at the Art Museum at the University of Memphis for work by Keren Kroul and Christopher Cook. There s a Wolf River Conservancy Art Auction at Midtown Artist Market. Tonight kicks off Ballet Memphis run of Momentum 5 at Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center, featuring the choreography of Garrett Ammon, Damien Patterson, Joseph Patterson, and Louisa Koeppel. It s opening night of The Wizard of Oz at Playhouse on the Square. Tonight s The Quiet Storm concert at Memphis Cook Convention Center features R&B artists Angela Bofill, Phil Perry, and Kindred. There s a book-signing this afternoon at Burke s Book Store by Ace Atkins, who ll be signing Dirty South, the fourth in his series of Southern sleuth novels. The Memphis Grizzlies play the L.A. Clippers tonight at The Pyramid (you d best be shuddering, L.A.). Hopes Like the Hindenberg, My Surrender, On a Dead Machine, and I.G.M. are at the New Daisy. Yamagata is at Newby s. And, as always, The Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge. Or you could go visit the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.
