The New York-based Divine Performing Arts was founded in 2006 when several smaller companies banded together to bring 5,000 years of Chinese cultural arts to audiences. Since then, Divine Performing Arts has traveled the world, performing before nearly a million people and receiving raves for their elaborately costumed and choreographed numbers.

The show is a colorful mix of traditional folk and modern dance, punctuated by an orchestra, lavish sets, drumming, and stunning acrobatics. Chopsticks, handkerchiefs, platform shoes, and tea cups are among the props in the technically difficult and crowd-pleasing ethnic and folk dances. For the story-based dances, performers intricately work through the favorite tales of Chinese lore, such as that of Mulan and Yue Fei.
