When: Fri., Feb. 5 2010

When local rockers Lucero debuted their big band sound — the band’s core quartet augmented by not just piano and pedal steel but a three-man horn section — last fall at the Overton Park Shell, it was a big hit. Now, after displaying their new sound across the country in support of their 1372 Overton Park album, Lucero will showcase it again this week at Minglewood Hall. Opening the show will be Glossary, a terrific Murfreesboro-based roots-rock/alt-country band whose Todd Beene moonlights as a Lucero sideman. Glossary’s fine new album, Feral Fire, was released February 2nd via Lucero’s own Liberty & Lament label, the first time the band’s released an album by another artist. The local show will be a warm-up for a month-long mini-tour for the two bands. Catch Lucero and Glossary at Minglewood Hall Friday, February 5th. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. — Chris Herrington
