The Memphis Tigers had their worst offensive game of the year. They scored only 21 points in the first half, shot 31 percent from the field, 59 percent from the free throw line, and 17 percent from the 3-point line. That's the bad news. The good news is they won by 17.
So just how bad is East Carolina? The word "pathetic" comes to mind. The Pirates actually shot worse than the Tigers from the free throw line (44 percent) and the 3-point line (15 percent).
How much of that was good Tiger defense and how much was Pirate ineptitude? We dunno. But Memphis won. And Tigers leading scorer Chris Douglas-Roberts got a needed night off to let his sprained ankle heal.
