First a confession: This six pack is actually a five pack because I thought the peach on the O'Fallon Weach was a pumpkin. Dang me! (No worries ... we drank it anyway.)
We started with the lightest beer of the bunch: the Jack-o Traveler Shandy. "Straight-up tastes like a piece of pie," said one of our tasters. This one is very sweet, the most pumpkin-spicy of the bunch and a favorite among the tasters.
Next up the other end of the beer spectrum: the Red Hook Out of Your Gourd Pumpkin Porter. A little lighter than usual, not very pumpkin-y.
Blackstone's Pumpkin Ale is a good in-between beer, not too sweet and not too heavy. Easy to drink.
Post Road Pumpkin Ale from the Brooklyn Brewery -- super mellow, no discernible pumpkin flavor but there is a whiff of spice.
Shock Top's Pumpkin Wheat is very wheaty. Not a favorite, but this one came with instructions -- "Pour down side of glass until 1/2 inch is left in bottle. Swirl and pour remaining brew to properly blend spices and release the aroma and flavor. Enjoy!" -- which we did not follow, so there's that.
