Seeing Red

Some of the adjectives thrown out about Red Priest: outrageous, brilliant, astonishing, irreverent.

Red Priest, named after the red-headed composer and priest Antonio Vivaldi, is a four-person, acoustic group — playing violin, harpsichord, recorder, and cello — that has blazed a trail in baroque music. Known for their energetic performances, the group, led by Piers Adams, is out to blow apart preconceived notions of the music form with a goal of winning over purists and novices alike. The Los Angeles Times deemed their show "a high-energy hoe-down," while The Denver Post said the group is "nothing short of electrifying."

Ready to be electrified? Red Priest plays the Germantown Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, October 25th. During the intermission, there will be a costume contest in the spirit of Halloween. Winners will be announced after the show.

Red Priest, Saturday, October 25th, at 8 p.m. at the Germantown Performing Arts Centre. Tickets are $30 and $35.
