What They Said

About "Haslam, Wamp Drop In Again" and two gubernatorial candidates' visit to Memphis:

"What's the age limit for Young Republicans? The ones in the second picture look more like old Republicans. If they're Young Republicans, where does one find the old ones? Elmwood?" — B

About "The NRA Whores" and the legislators who supported the guns-in-bars law:

"I believe that everyone should be allowed to carry guns in bars — but they must be loaded rifles. That way, should the need to form a militia arise while in the bar, you're ready to go. Forget puny sidearms against Kalashnikov-toting terrorists, Mexican drug mules, or jack-booted federal thugs."

About "Letter From the Editor" and a fight between two young women being a metaphor for our city:

"I saw two white dudes from East Memphis fighting last week. They were using one hand to fight and the other hand to count off reasons why they hate Memphis. They didn't finish the fight, though, because one ran off to make a rant about a mayoral race and the other needed to check up on his downtown vacation condo."

Count Dracula

About "Ethics Codes" and the possible need for "iron-clad rules" for public servants:

"Anyone crazy enough to run for public office is psychologically unfit to hold public office. One person can't change anything, but he can make himself a lot of money. Therein lies the problem. The only solution is to take the money decisions out of the hands of the politicians, but if we did that, we wouldn't need politicians." — jeff

Comment of the Week:

About "Herenton Fears Debate Will Be Unfair, Withdraws":

"It's hard to debate your opponent when the sole basis of your campaign is vote for the black guy." — mad_merc
